As I write this, my program is busy populating 333,137 cemeteries. Those aren’t just random cemeteries, they are the final resting place for 8,158,390 veterans. 179,860 of those veterans are laid to rest in and around the San Antonio area, which is the initial focus of the program. An additional 26,563 veterans are in the Jacksonville, FL area, and will be the next ones to be added.
I know that these are not all the veterans that should be included, but they are the ones that are in our initial scan. It will take some time for me to load every one of the veterans we already have. In fact, with 8 million records to process, if I scan one per second, it will take 94 and a half days. That is the sheer amount of data that we are looking at, and more get added to the list daily.
